Sexual Health Promotion and Outreach Team

Sexual Health Promotion and Outreach Team

The Sexual Health Promotion and Outreach Team is part of the Sexual Health Service Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Our Vision

Our team is committed to delivering inclusive and non-judgemental sexual health promotion and outreach across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. We focus on empowering people—especially individuals whose needs aren’t met by traditional healthcare approaches—to build healthy relationships and make informed choices that support positive sexual health. By working collaboratively with partners and communities, we aim to reduce sexual health inequalities and improve outcomes for those most at-risk.

Meet the Outreach Team

Claire

My name is Claire, and I am a Universal Outreach Worker for sexual health. I have worked in the team and seen many changes over the past 20 years. I work within the Mansfield and Ashfield locality.

I enjoy my role, as I feel I get to make a difference in people’s lives—especially those who might be vulnerable. No two days are the same: new people, new situations, and constant learning and adapting. Most importantly, you meet people where they are, build trust, and form meaningful relationships.

I like PJs, slipper socks, and candles—but most importantly, I love getting on an aeroplane at least four times a year!

Jenny

I’m Jenny, and I work in the Sexual Health Outreach and Promotion team, going out into the community to promote what we do. Our aim is to educate, break down barriers and myths, and empower people to take control of their sexual health and access our service without stigma. It’s great to be a part of that.

Phil

My name is Phil Eardley, and I am the Sexual Health Promotion & Outreach Lead for the Mid Notts area, based at Kings Mill Hospital. I previously worked in mental health, but for the last 20 years, I have worked in sexual health. I am passionate about ensuring that everyone who attends our service achieves a positive outcome regarding their sexual health.

I love being part of the outreach team and taking our service out to people who, for whatever reason, cannot attend a clinic in a conventional setting. As an employee, it makes me feel valued that I can have a positive impact on a person’s life.

Outside of work, I enjoy music—whether that’s delivering a vocal performance in my kitchen to whatever band I’m listening to, or travelling around the world to watch bands in a live music setting.

Jamie

Hi, my name’s Jamie – I’m excited to have recently joined the team as a Universal Outreach Worker! I’m enjoying learning lots and look forward to helping people and making a difference. I’m really passionate about working towards making sexual healthcare inclusive and judgment-free.

I’ve previously worked in a few different roles, including as a youth support worker, doing admin at QMC, and facilitating sessions in schools about healthy relationships. In my free time, I enjoy climbing, making pottery, and playing cozy video games!

Matt

My name is Matthew, and I’m the Sexual Health Promotion, Outreach and Training System Lead at Sexual Health Services Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. I lead the Sexual Health Promotion and Outreach Team, supporting the development of inclusive, community-focused sexual health outreach across the city and county.

I joined the service in June 2025, having previously worked in Public Health at Nottinghamshire County Council. My background is in education and public health — I began my career as a primary school teacher and later supported schools through the Healthy Schools Programme. I’ve also worked within the NHS in a Mental Health Trust.

Danielle

I bring a strong background in supporting vulnerable people, with a particular focus on women facing multiple disadvantages, including those affected by homelessness and domestic abuse.

My experience has taught me the vital importance of building trust, especially with individuals who may have previously felt let down by services. I am committed to using a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to ensure our sexual health services are accessible, supportive, and inclusive, achieving the best possible outcomes for clients across the city and county. I’m especially passionate about empowering individuals to take control of their well-being and enjoy working collaboratively with partners across Nottinghamshire to break down barriers to care.

Outside of work, I’m a keen cooking enthusiast and currently enjoying the challenge of getting into baking to improve my skills!
