For service users:
We are proud to be involved in sexual health research at Sexual health services Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Research and clinical trials are ways scientists and doctors to make health care better.
It includes looking at new treatments and improving current treatments as well as people’s opinions.
In the past few years we have been involved in studies looking at Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (the PrEP Impact trial) and Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) treatments (the DEVA and NEFERTITI trials).
All research is checked that it is safe and ethical to ensure people who choose to be involved are looked after. People who chose not to be involved in research will have care as normal, and this care will not be impacted if you decide the research isn’t something you’d like to be involved in.
When you contact or attend the sexual health service you may be invited to find out more about a current research project if you’re eligible to take part. Or you may have seen advertising about current research projects and want to ask staff about them.
We are currently recruiting to the DEBI trial (desogestrel for problem bleeding on the implant) if you are aged 16-45 and have problem bleeding on the implant, this research may be something you’d like to find out more about.
